The show is finally over. I am really sad to see it go.
The story of a young boy's journeys through childhood and his love for Jesus.
Until probably season two, this show was kind of lighthearted in a super-anti-religion way. The setting was a sleepy little God-loving town (supposedly). The people all had names inspired by the animation style: Clay, Shapey, Block, Blobberta, Reverend Putty, etc, which was fun.
As you watch you learn that these people, though claiming to have faith in God, were all very angry, unhappy and horrible people. All had dark twisted secrets. Only the super-righteous Orel was truly "good", but often mislead. The atheist girl running the tattoo and sex shop was also pretty average, but had her own secrets.
Watching commentary for these shows is a MUST.
The last season of this show (the last episode of said season aired online tonight) was intense. Secrets and twists laid wide open and vulnerable. A lot of the episodes were sad, some made one sick, occasionally it was heartwarming. You could say it all started with a "bang".
I will be owning this show's complete series soon after the holidays when it is released. If you can Netflix it someday, please try. If you're easily offended by anti-religious shows or can't appreciate the spoof of David and Goliath, then just keep walking.
