Okay so there weren't any Aztecs in it like I had hoped, but STILL.
It's a CLASSIC Speilberg movie. When you see it, you'll know what I mean. Also, Lucas Arts had their hands in it so there's some CG sprinkled throughout. But let me start with the plot.
It's 1957. And no, there are no Nazis. Sorreh. Indy finds himself in the middle of some strange plot to take over the world, or something, involving the KGB, lead by a Ukranian woman who has psychic powers (and no, not powers like "pew pew pew mind bullets!" but like "I cn reed ur mind, lol"). Their evil plan involves finding a crystal skull and locating the lost city of gold. Of course, being the proud war veteran, professor, archeologist and adventurer he is, Indy simply wants to return it. ADVENTURE ENSUES!
When I left the theater I was ecstatic. It was a good movie. It was so classic. Filmed like an old movie, acted like an old movie. But as I got to thinking about it, the end WAS kind of dumb. It was like Speilberg got shoved over by Lucas. You'll see what I mean if you see it.
Now, I don't want to give away too much, seeing as it's still a new movie, but at the very end the idea of "passing the torch from the older generation to the younger" is completely trampled upon and I LOVED it. It's what bugged me in "Extraordinary League of Gentlemen" when Connery died and was all "now it's up to you, younger person". You...you just can't replace Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. It's impossible. If there was another one and they used a different actor, it would fail miserably, regardless of how much action they put into it. He's not James Bond; he's not expendable. Harrison Ford IS Indiana Jones.
Anyway, if you're interested, go see it. If you're a die-hard Indy fan, you'll love it (except maybe the ending). If you're just bored and make your brother take you somewhere on a holiday like I did, you'll still like it.

Sadly, I'm not a die hard Indy fan, and I left the theater going "lolwhat". XD I was like "cheesy but nummy" until they got to that ONE POINT (if you've seen it, you know what I mean) and then I was like "wtf mate. wtf."
The ant scene was creepy as hell, I flinched away from ants for three days afterwards.
Now, I MAY be wrong on this, since I've only seen the movie once and I wasn't paying THAT much attention, but it seemed to me they got some of their facts wrong... like they half-assed their research or something? o.O They seemed to confuse a few different groups of people, and while I'm not an archaeologist buff (I was seeing the movie with one though, she griped about more things than /I/ noticed, that was for sure), some of the little details made me wonder. Then again... I'm a nerd, and the person sitting next to me was a professor, which is like... a professional nerd. HER LICENSE PLATE IS THE WORD 'AZTEC', I'M NOT MAKING THIS UP. XD
I'm getting off on a tangent. Overall, I'd give the movie a resounding "Eeeh." It wasn't bad, but I sure amn't gonna buy it on DVD. XD
...Why am I giving you my opinion? DX
(One day, you need to meet that lady, Rae, she's more eccentric about Aztecs than anyone I've ever met. o-o) |

I heard the Russians were mad at them too. XD; I can't really blame them, I wouldn't want my country portrayed like that either. But the silliness aside, it was how they seemed to confuse Aztecs and Mayans that really got me. D= Oh. And the part with the monkeys. o-o; That confused me, was that a running Indiana Jones type of thing?
On a bright note, though, there was a lot of tongue-in-cheek humor that I found entertaining, even if I was laughing at them, not with them, throughout the movie. XD |

I dunno, I think El Dorado was a carry-over from the Mayans. EVERYONE has the Aztecs and Mayans confused now that the Maya have been proven to be just as vicious as Aztecs.
