I am going to be making t-shirts (HOPEFULLY) next semester to promote my animation/webcomic. In the class Adv. Printmaking, we are allowed to work with the printing medium of our choice. Apart from lino-cuts, I want to silkscreen some t-shirts.

Don't throw your money at me yet. I was thinking of charging $5 a shirt, but I'd need the money before the product (as expected).

So don't get excited just yet. I first have to build the frame, buy quick-drying t-shirt ink and then the tools needed. I'd like to be able to have a frame I can take with me after school so I can continue to produce them.

If everything goes according to plan, they will be on a print-by-demand basis (meaning you give me your hard-earned money, I buy a shirt with it, ink it and send it to you).

Keep your eye out for updates if you're interested in a shirt.

Oh. And they'll say DIE 4 ME so you can be like Roger.

I will be producing t-shirts in my printmaking class. You have two choices:

A DIE 4 ME shirt.

Or a shirt with Tlaloc's toothy grin that says: "I Like You"

Choose and tell my your size and I'll fit you in for production. They'll be between $5 and $10.

Oooh! Can we see a pic of what the "I like you" design would look like? Also, what colors would these shirts be? (I'm assuming the "die 4 me" would be black...but I don't know much about DIY screen-printing--are the inks opaque enough for using on dark colored shirts?)
I'd take an XL in the "I like you" if I like the design & shirt color.

(Ya know, I'd probably be more interested in the variant "pie 4 me" shirt than the original. lol)

That is a good idea.

I will scan the ideas I have and put them in the scraps section on dA (but of course I'll give you guys the link) and you can tell me what you think.

Both designs would be on black t-shirts because black is slimming and I like stark white on black (offline, at least...).

I hope the colors are opaque, but I will be testing them when production begins.

I haven't started production because it's an assignment. I think I start...some time in March?

April 29th UPDATE on t-shirt production

God DAMN I hate this class!

Anyway, I've purchased 4 Medium and 4 XL black t-shirts to print on. HOWEVER because they had pockets in them and I had to manually take the pockets out (actually it was Jodi. Thank you sooooo much) AND 2 of them got ripped in the "ripping" action (JODI...), I'm down to 3 of each and can't promise the durability in the breast area. I'll check on them when they come out of the dryer tonight.

"I Like You" shirts go into production as of tomorrow (if the screen dries fast enough.

T-shirt production is in full-swing right now. A LOT of "I Like You" shirts and a few good D4M shirts. The ILY shirts look great and come in a variety of sizes. Get em while they're hot.

Bras are stupid.

ANYWAY the finally price for t-shirts has been decided at last. Sorry about the wait.

The shirts cost $7 and shipping is almost $3 (depending on which brand of t-shirt I purchase to print on) so I'm going to call it an even $10. Considering that most comic shirts can go for as much as $20, I say you're getting a pretty fair deal, eh?
