DORKS!
An anime about anime freaks. A group of college-age (Assumed) boys are obsessed with doujinshi (sp?) GIRL MANGA. It begins as a quiet and shy and slightly embarrassed young man looks into joining. The group consists of a militant dork, a heavier stutterer, a costume-maker and the alien-like club president. After passing a hilarious initiation, the new guy is welcomed in and explores his darker, perverted side since everyone else is doing it.
Meanwhile, another new member is enjoying playing video games while his girlfriend is left speechless and often in the dust of his journey for pleasure. She is completely terrified that he has dirty anime magazines in his room. A young female cosplayer joins the club, thus adding the token "quiet nerdy girl people wanna fuck" element.
The focus of the anime jumps from the embarrassed newbie prowling his first convention and exploring stores with his club members, and the confused/disgusted girlfriend of the very untypical gamer kid.
I enjoy this series. It's very simple and it's fun. It's like a comic book. And it's real enough that you can believe the characters (except when the girl freaks out, which is a bit over the top). I think it's also great that even though the other boys will probably try to gain her attention the quiet girl is very reserved and not a cock-tease. She just likes cosplaying and joined the group because she's a dork. She's also into baldies which is kind of funny.
This is the kind of anime you don't need to panic about. There aren't any edge-of-your-seat moments, true, but it's still fun to watch. If you're an anime dork or just into hentai/doujinshi/GIRL MANGA then you'll like this. If you're a girl, you'll like all the dorks. I recommend this series.
