The Amazing Screw On Head

What a lovable and strange little cartoon.

Based on a graphic novel by the guy who did Hellboy, The Amazing Screw On Head, is a fun animation, though very short (22 mins).

Screw On Head (SOH) is well...a...screw-on head. He works for president Lincoln in keeping history from becoming too weird. Lincoln puts history into books, SOH takes care of the mysterious weirdos and baddies so he doesn't have to. In this movie, he must face his old enemy/friend Emperor Zombie who plans on conquering the world with an ancient text. He is accompanied by his current butler and their dog, who is apparently dead.

I was impressed. Here I thought it was going to be a sort of dark comedy, and it was, but with the base of being a "crime fighting boring old stereotype". The elements in this were amazing. Cliches were shattered, the humor was upbeat and random and the characters were just so great. There's a chimp with a crown who is a gunman...c'mon, this is awesome.

The animation is interesting, though a bit painful on the eyes, but the motion is nice. I'm pretty sure Mark Hamill is the voice of the butler (double bonus).

I think anyone into GOOD cartoons and animation should see this. Anyone who wants a quick laugh needs to see this as well. Hell, you should just see it if just for the dog and the vampire.
